Program Overview

  • This course covers basic computer skills, as well as Windows, email, internet, and social media use. Students will create an account with Google, and will learn to use Google’s search engine, Maps, and other features. Learners also complete introductory Word and Excel courses.

  • This certificate includes the content found in the individual courses, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Level 2. Students can opt to take the whole certificate program, or can completed courses individually based on their needs.

  • In this course, students learn how to produce professional business documents by using introductory and intermediate word processing techniques including paragraph and page formatting options, working with tabs and indents and using the find and replace features. They learn how to use the spell-check, grammar check, thesaurus and other built-in correction tools; multi-column texts, mail merges, numbered and bulleted paragraphs, headers, footers and page numbering.

  • Students learn the basic commands, functions, formulas, and capabilities of Microsoft Excel. They discover dozens of shortcuts and tricks for setting up fully formatted worksheets quickly and efficiently. They learn the secrets behind writing powerful formulas, using functions, sorting and analyzing data, and creating custom charts.

  • Students take a hands-on approach to creating computer slide presentations using PowerPoint. Areas of study include: presentation guidelines, building presentations, creating outlines, formatting slides, creating templates, animation, adding charts, clipart and special effects. Students are also taught how to integrate MS PowerPoint with other MS Office programs such as Word and Excel.

  • This certificate includes the content found in the individual courses, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Level 3. Students can opt to take the whole certificate program, or can completed courses individually based on their needs.

  • In Microsoft Word Level 3, students learn advanced Word functions and features. They learn how to craft styles in place of direct formatting, create multi-level lists and charts, use advanced table features, build documents from reusable content and use markup tools.

  • In Microsoft Excel Level 3, students learn how to use financial and lookup functions, define names, validate data, and audit worksheets. They also learn how to manage large workbooks, use advanced sorting and filtering, create column and line charts, process diagrams, create and use an Excel template and protect worksheets to ensure consistency in formulas and data.

  • In PowerPoint Level 3, students learn a variety of advanced technique for crafting powerful and effective presentations. Topics include creating templates and reviewing, publishing, comparing, combining, and protecting presentations. Students learn how to apply advanced graphic techniques, insert audio and video, apply custom animation effects, insert hyperlinks, create custom slide shows, and view presentations.

  • Students learn introductory and advanced functions of Microsoft Access. Introductory learning objectives include how work on the design and creation of tables, data-entry forms, queries, and reports. More advanced learning outcomes include how to maneuver and manage data, format tables and validate data entry, create special purpose queries, create action queries, modify join types, and customize forms and reports.
